The Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Muhammad Babandede, has inaugurated the FCT command migrant e-registration centre and medical clinic at Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The Service`s Public Relations Officer, Sunday James, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that e-registration for migrants were launched in July 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari with the establishment of registration centres in some states, including FCT.
He said maintenance of a registry of migrants in the country was one of the core statutory functions of NIS.
“The exercise will help to build a formidable data base for migrants and ensure effective border management,” he said.

Mr Babandede urged the officers and men of the command to be more dedicated and professional in all their assigned tasks, adding that the service was moving towards digitisation.
He urged them to be in tune up with modern trends to be relevant and effective in delivering the mandate of the service.
The Comptroller, FCT Command, Angela Esekhaigbe, lauded the support of the immigration boss which has placed the command strategically alongside the Headquarters for service delivery to the public.
NAN reports that Heads of Security and Response Agencies in the FCT and Chairmen of five Area Councils of the FCT attended the occasion.
