The State House access tags of the 35 sacked aides of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been withdrawn by the Presidency as termination letters signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, were delivered to the office of the VP.
DAILY NIGERIAN had exclusively reported the sack of the 35 out of over 80 aides of Mr Osinbajo by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Insiders said the SGF, who signed their appointment letters, was directed to issue termination letters to the disengaged aides.
Confirming the delivery of the said letters, a source told DAILY NIGERIAN that the vice president had decided to withhold the letters pending the return of President Muhammadu Buhari for lobbying.
In an emergency meeting summoned by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ade Ipaye, the affected aides were briefed on the position of the vice president, especially his efforts to persuade the president to reverse the decision.
The President is expected back into the country on November 17.
The influence of the vice president in the power equation is slowly diminishing, with the transfer of some agencies he oversees to either office of the president or some relevant ministries.
Recall that on September 16, Mr Buhari replaced Osinbajo-led Economic Management Team with Economic Advisory Council that will directly report to his (president’s) office.
