The Kano State Police Command has invited the embattled former chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, PCACC, Muhuyi Rimingado, to answer charges of alleged forgery of medical report.
Sources at the police command told DAILY NIGERIAN that Mr Rimingado is currently at the Bompai Police Command headquarters answering questions.
While Mr Rimingado honours the police invitation, the State House of Assembly on Monday passed a resolution recommending his sack despite a court order stopping them from taking further action.
“Order of Interim Injunction is hereby granted to the Plaintiff/Applicant restraining the Defendants/Respondents from taking any step related to or in connection with this matter pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice,” the court ordered.
Passing the resolution at today’s plenary, the House set up a six-man committee to investigate his tenure from 2015 to 2021, and recommended that he be arrested and prosecuted.
Recall that the Kano State House of Assembly had invited Mr Rimingado to appear before its ad-hoc committee investigating a petition against him on Wednesday July 14, 2021.
But Mr Rigingado, while citing health grounds and attaching medical records to boot, demanded a certified true copy of the petition the assembly received against him and requested for more time appear.
On July 19, the National Hospital wrote to the Kano State House of Assembly, saying the medical records he presented to the House were fake.
In its reply dated July 19, 2021 with reference number NHA/CMAC/GC/0117/2021/V.I/01 and signed by the director, Clinical Services, Dr. A.A. Umar, the National Hospital said it investigated the documents and discovered that they were forged.
“Following your request on the above, and the subsequent investigations, we wish to state the following findings:
“1. There is no patient named Muhuyi Magaji in our hospital record and no folder was opened in that name.
“2. That by our records, the name and signature of doctor (Dr. Bayo) on the Medical Report do not belong to any staff of the National Hospital Abuja.
“3. Laboratory investigations in the National Hospital are no longer manually written on paper but electronically transmitted.
“In the light of the above, Sir, the Medical Report/documents, which you attached its photocopies are NOT authentic,” the hospital said.
But in a prompt reply to the National Hospital letter, Mr Rimingado threatened to drag to court Bayo Ayodele, the doctor who issued him the controversial medical report to present to the Kano State House of Assembly.
In a letter addressed to Mr Ayodele and signed by Mr Rimingado’s lawyer, Adesina Oke, the former anti-graft boss demanded that the doctor write to the House of Assembly to explain the allegations of forgery.
In the letter, which is copied to the National Hospital Abuja, Mr Rimingado also demanded the lawyer to write to the Kano legislators, “stating the true position of my health and medical fitness” within 48 hours.
