The Board of Trustees, Al-Qalam University, Katsina, has approved the appointment of Prof. Nasiru Musa-Yauri as New Vice Chancellor, VC, of the university.
This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Katsina, by the Head of public affairs of the university, Akilu Atiku.
According to him, Mr Musa-Yauri would take over from Prof. Shehu Garki-Ado with immediate effect, and would serve for a period of five years. Mr Garki-Ado’s tenure ended on Sept. 27, 2021.
“In the appointment letter which was signed by the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale-Ahmad, the appointment was approved at the Board’s Special Meeting.
“It further stated that the approval of the Board followed favourable recommendations from interactions held with interested applicants for the position. And also in line with the University Law of October, 2014 section 4(2) sub-section 3(1).
“A Professor of Economic Management, Musa-Yauri is presently the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
“And he was once the VC of the institution when it was Katsina University for a period of one year, (Jan-Dec 2012),” he said.
